The accident occurred around 6:30pm Tuesday along Highway 9 near Charter Drive in Horry County.
A Nissan SUV was turning left while the motorcycle was traveling north. The motorcyclist laid the bike down in an attempt to avoid a collision and became separated from the bike.
The SUV then struck the rider, causing fatal injuries. The name of the deceased individual was not publicly released and the crash remains under investigation.
