Investigation Underway After Human Remains Found In Trash Can

An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered in a trash can in Bennettsville.

The remains were found at a local housing complex Thursday and are believed to be those of an adult, but the gender and identity have not been determined at this time.

SLED has been called in to assist in the investigation “due to the nature and complexity of the case.” Several county coroner’s offices are also assisting “to ensure a thorough and coordinated investigation effort.”
