JetBlue Increases Checked Bag Fees Amid High Fuel Prices
Passengers must now pay at least $39 to check a bag, up $4 per bag from the previous $35 fee.
JetBlue has increased checked bag fees due to higher jet fuel prices amid the Iran war.
Passengers must now pay at least $39 to check a bag, up $4 per bag from the previous $35 fee. Checking a second bag now costs at least $59, up from $50. Those rates apply to bags checked more than 24 hours before departure. If a bag is checked within 24 hours of departure, flyers will be charged an additional $10 per bag on top of the new rates.
JetBlue raised the fees to cover rising jet fuel costs due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz constraining oil supplies, driving up transportation costs for a range of industries. The average price per gallon of gas in the U.S. jumped past $4 for the first time since 2022 as the war continues.
