Trump To Meet With Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu

The meeting aims to create fresh momentum for a U.S. brokered ceasefire in Gaza.

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Monday.

The meeting will take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. It aims to create fresh momentum for a U.S. brokered ceasefire in Gaza that could lose support before a complicated second phase.

Trump is expected to leverage his strong relationship with Netanyahu and look for ways to speed up the peace process. The push comes as Israel’s leader has been accused of not pushing his side to move fast enough.

The truce’s first phase began back in October but both sides have since accused one another of violations, and divisions that have emerged.

The two leaders are also expected to discuss non-Gaza topics, including Iran. Trump continues to insist Iran’s nuclear capabilities were “completely and fully obliterated” following U.S. strikes on its nuclear sites in June.
