Flight Cancellations And Delays Continue To Impact Travel
The move comes after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy ordered the cancellations to begin last Friday.
The FAA is continuing to reduce air traffic amid the ongoing government shutdown.
Over 1,100 flights were cancelled and 1,300 delayed Tuesday morning alone. The percentage of flights required to be cut was originally expected to increase to 6% from 4% at 40 major airports. That marks the first bump on the ramp-up totaling to a full 10% of cuts by Friday.
The move comes after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy ordered the cancellations to begin last Friday. The order was delivered as the government shutdown has impacted air controllers. It impacted in staff shortages in a field that was already struggling. It is unclear whether or when a newly passed Senate funding package to reopen the federal government will have an impact on the planned cancellations.
