Trump Speaks To Troops, Signs Deal Amid Asia Trip
President Trump and Japanese leader Takaichi sign a deal to increase cooperation on processing critical minerals and rare earth materials.
President Trump spoke to American troops aboard the USS George Washington on Monday as part of his tour through Asia.
The president addressed the soldiers for nearly an hour, during which he praised Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and touted the military no longer being “politically correct.” He also defended his push to send National Guard troops to U.S. cities and his administration’s recent strikes on boats carry alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.
During the rally, Trump also invited to the podium new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the country’s first female leader. The two exchanged praises and signed a deal to increase cooperation on processing critical minerals and rare earth materials. The agreement states that the countries will provide financial support for mining projects within six months.
