House Democrats Return To Texas
The Democrats were forced to sign "permission slips," agreeing to around-the-clock surveillance.
House Democrats have returned to Texas following a major walk-out protest.
The protests came during a legislative session that involved voting on a redistricting map. The proposal would give Republicans five additional seats on the committee.
When Democrats fled, the House did not have enough members to complete the voting process, putting a pause on the effort.
They refused to return unless California intended to increase it’s Democrat seats by five to balance out the texas proposal.
Upon their return, the Democrats were forced to sign “permission slips,” agreeing to around-the-clock surveillance. Their return also allows the proposal to officially move forward.
