A nurse is going viral for her video where she explains how setting multiple alarms can take a toll on your mental health. She says it really disrupts your rapid eye movement, or REM cycle, and can lead to sleep inertia, increased drowsiness, fatigue, mood swings and it also raises your cortisol levels. Ringing alarms can also trigger a “fight or flight response” every time they go off, which can be stressful to the body.
