If you’re heading somewhere to celebrate Independence Day, you’re not alone. According to AAA, nearly 71 million Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home. That’s up 5% from last year.
Here are some stats on what they’re projecting….85% of Fourth of July travelers are driving, 8% are flying and 6.5% are using some other mode of transportation. There’s relief at the pump. Gas prices are lower than last year when the national average was $3.53. As usual, the worst times to be on the roads are when everyone wants to be driving…between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. AAA suggests driving in the morning if you can. Overall, the busiest days will be Wednesday and Sunday.
