Use the “60-30-10” Rule for Decorating Your Home
It's a simple rule that could help you choose your theme.
When it comes to decorating your home, choosing the right hue is a common hurdle people encounter.
But, there’s a simple rule that could help you choose your theme.
Your color palette can be divided using the “60-30-10” method. To apply, you choose a dominant color that takes up 60% of the space. Next choose a secondary and complimentary color that will take up 30%. And lastly pick out an accent color that amounts to 10% of the area.
For example, let’s say you’re redecorating your bedroom, the dominant color would apply to walls, furniture or rugs. The secondary color would be used for curtains, comforters, wall decor. The accent colors would be contributed by small decor pieces, throw pillows, nic-nacs and such.
With this method, using colors of similar tones would best assist in creating a comfy masterpiece.
