Supreme Court Unanimously Votes To Protect Access To Abortion Medication

This marks the court's first abortion decision since Conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.

The Supreme Court unanimously voted to protect access to an abortion medication.

Mifepristone was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year.

Conservative groups filed lawsuits targeting the medication seeking to reverse its approval or rollback policies that have made it easier to obtain.

The case threatened to restrict access to Mifepristone nationwide, including in states where abortion remains legal. However, the nine justices ruled that those who oppose abortion lack the legal right to sue over the FDA’s approval of the drug.
