Most Expensive States to Raise a Child
The cost of child care rose roughly 20-percent between 2016 and 2021.
The cost of raising a child in the U.S. is still on the rise…but families in some states are paying even more compared to others. The latest data from Lending Tree shows, the cost of child care rose roughly 20-percent between 2016 and 2021. It also found the average family in America is spending around $237,482 over 18 years to raise a kid and that doesn’t factor in the cost of higher education.
Now, new research from financial company SmartAsset reveals some of the most expensive states for child costs include Massachusetts, Hawaii, Connecticut, Colorado and New York. The least expensive state is Mississippi.
