Better Sleep Might Bring Less Loneliness

Studies suggest an emphasis on promoting sleep health should be included in ways to combat loneliness or social isolation.

If you feel lonely or socially isolated..getting more sleep may help. Researchers studied more than two thousand adults with an average age of 44. Participants filled out an online sleep health questionnaire…and also filled out a form that measured loneliness. Better sleep was associated with significantly less emotional and social loneliness. Especially in younger adults. The studies suggest an emphasis on promoting sleep health should be included in ways to combat loneliness or social isolation. The findings were presented at the annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies.
