Surfworks Developers Request For Another Land Purchase Extension

Developers said it is difficult for them to raise money to buy the 21 acres of land the park could eventually sit on.

Developers for Surfworks water park are reportedly facing construction setbacks and financial challenges.

Developers said it is difficult for them to raise money to buy the 21 acres of land the park could eventually sit on and has asked the Myrtle Beach city council for a land purchase extension. If approved, this would be their second extension since March when they asked the council for an additional six months. The council is set to vote on the extension at its next meeting.

Surfworks will be South Carolina’s first surf and adventure park. There will be an on-site skate park and amphitheater along with a lagoon. Developers hope to have the park finished by 2026.
