Search For Missing Submersible Is In A Race Against Time

The sub is designed to carry 96 hours of oxygen for five people on board and it lost contact nearly 2 hours into its journey on Sunday.

Many agencies are facing a race against time as search and rescue missions are still underway to find the missing submersible that is expected to be running out of its reserved oxygen.

The vessel was part of an eight-day journey conducted by OceanGate Expeditions to visit the Titanic wreckage site that sits on the ocean floor around 12,500 feet below sea level.

British businessman Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman, along with OceanGate CEO and founder Stockton Rush, have all been confirmed to be aboard the missing vessel.

The sub is designed to carry 96 hours of oxygen for five people on board and it lost contact nearly 2 hours into its journey on Sunday.

In 2018, a report revealed that the vessel needed more testing and passengers may be endangered if it reached ‘extreme depths’.

It remains unclear what caused the vessel to lose contact, but many crews are working to find the submersible.

With potential good news, reports say an aircraft heard banging sounds at 30-minute intervals from the area where the sub disappeared.
