Court Overturns Special Master Review of Mar-a-Lago Documents
Yesterday's decision reversing that ruling removes a major hurdle for the DOJ's probe.
A federal appeals court has halted a third party review of top secret documents the FBI seized from Donald Trump’s Florida home. Following the August search at Mar-a-Lago, a lower court judge ruled a special master would go through the materials to see what should be off limits to investigators. Yesterday’s decision reversing that ruling removes a major hurdle for the DOJ’s probe into alleged mishandling of government records. This latest ruling was issued jointly by a three-judge panel made up entirely of republican appointees. Trump has seven days to appeal the ruling and ask for a stay of its enforcement. The former president’s legal team is weighing appealing to the Supreme Court but hasn’t yet decided.
