New York Subway Shooting Suspect Arrested, Scheduled to Appear in Court Today

More details surrounding the New York subway shooting have been released. The shooter, Frank James, was arrested yesterday. During a news conference New York Mayor Eric Adams announced “we got him.” 62 year old James was located in the East Village at the corner of St. Marks Place and First Avenue where he was apprehended without incident and taken into custody. The NYPD was alerted to his location after he called crime stoppers to tell authorities he was at a McDonald’s on Manhattan’s lower east side. James was charged in federal court with violating a law that prohibits terrorist and other violent attacks against the transportation system and if convicted, he could spend life in prison. James will make his initial court appearance today. During the shooting on Tuesday, James donning a gas mask, construction vest and a hard hat, set off a smoke canister and fired a handgun 33 times inside a Brooklyn subway train and station around 8:30 a.m. at least 10 people were shot, 29 people were injured including some children.
