Ketanji Brown Jackson Faces Senate Panel Vote Today

President Biden’s nominee for Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is facing a senate panel vote today ahead of her expected confirmation later this week. The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on party lines as both Republicans and Democrats agree that Jackson is a well-qualified nominee. She currently sits on D.C.’s Federal Appellate Court and has been a front-runner for the seat since Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement. Jackson previously worked as a clerk for Breyer, a federal public defender, an attorney in private practice, a federal district court judge and a member of the U.S. sentencing commission. South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham who supported Jackson for her current job a year ago said previously that he would be opposing her citing her sentencing for cases of child pornography and representation of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
