North Korea Launches Ballistic Missile Test
The South Korean military has responded by test-firing multiple ground, sea and air missiles.
The Japanese Defense Ministry says North Korea has fired a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile into the waters east of Japan. This is the country’s first launch since 2017.
South Korea’s joint chiefs of staff also reported the launch and President Moon Jae-in “strongly condemned” North Korea for breaching its self-imposed moratorium on intercontinental ballistic missiles. He calls it a “serious threat” to the Korean peninsula and the international community. Meanwhile, the Japanese Prime Minister said “these series of actions taken by North Korea threaten the peace and security of our country”…adding “they are absolutely unacceptable.” The South Korean military has responded by test-firing multiple ground, sea and air missiles.
