Ketanji Brown-Jackson Enters Third Day of Confirmation Hearings

The Senate Judiciary Committee is currently holding their third day of confirmation hearings.

Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown-Jackson is back in the hot seat today. The Senate Judiciary Committee is currently holding their third day of confirmation hearings for President Biden’s nominee. Jackson, who currently sits on DC’s Federal Appellate Court has been facing republican skepticism. She defended her judicial record yesterday as she answered questions from lawmakers while being grilled on some sentencing decisions. Jackson also outlined what she described as her “methodology” for approaching cases. South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham questioned her on her religion as well as Guantanamo Bay detainees before abruptly leaving the chamber. As long as Senate democrats keep their caucus unified behind Jackson, they will have the 50 votes they need for her confirmation. If she is confirmed, Jackson will become the first black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court.
