Study Shows Johnson and Johnson Vaccine 76% Effective in Preventing Covid-19 Overall
The Johnson and Johnson vaccine may have an important role to play against the Coronavirus. A study published last week in the medical journal “JAMA Network Open” found that the vaccine remains durable and effective, even through the surge of cases caused by the Delta variant. It was 76% effective overall in preventing Covid-19 infections and 81% effective in preventing Covid-related hospitalizations. According to the study, it also provides lasting immunity at least six months after the shots. It also shows that the vaccine has the lowest breakthrough infection rate of all the vaccines since the week ending on December 25th. In January, people who received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine had the lowest incidence of breakthrough omicron infections compared to those vaccinated with the Pfizer and Moderna shots.
