SCDOT & Coastal Carolina University To Implement Hwy 544 Improvements
Along with the improvements, the department continues to support Coastal's planned pedestrian bridge over the highway.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation and Coastal Carolina University are proceeding with a series of Highway 544 safety improvements.
The improvements will include reducing the speed limit to 35 mph and installing a ‘high-intensity activated crosswalk’ pedestrian activated signal. It also includes enhancing pavement markings in the 544 corridor.
The improvements are expected to be implemented this year. The actions are part of an ongoing partnership between the department and the university to address pedestrian safety after many events have occurred over the years.
