A recent study shows a tenfold increase in birding among people aged 16 to 29 since 2018. A wildlife advisor for the society says diverse bird species can almost feel like Pokémon. That franchise’s motto is “Gotta Catch ’em All.” Of course, birdwatchers don’t catch anything…but some birding apps are leaning into the potential connection. One even describes itself as “Pokémon Go for birds.”
