House Passes $70B Immigration Enforcement Funding Bill

The bill will provide $38 billion for ICE, $26 billion for the Border Patrol and another $5 billion to cover unforeseen costs.

The House passed a bill to provide funds for immigration enforcement.

The bill will provide nearly $70 billion. It was passed by a vote of 214-212. The bill will provide $38 billion for ICE, $26 billion for the Border Patrol and another $5 billion to cover unforeseen costs.

It front-loads routine annual funding, ensuring a virtually uninterrupted flow of money as the Trump administration seeks to deport around 1 million people per year.

The bill was passed by the Senate last week and now heads to President Trump’s desk for signature. The funding comes on top of the nearly $140 billion that the Republican-controlled Congress gave ICE and Customs and Border Protection last year as part of Trump’s tax and spending cuts bill.
