A new study suggests working remotely could take a serious toll on mental health.
It found working from home substantially increases isolation and worsens mental well-being, especially for people living alone.
Researchers analyzed data from five nationwide surveys…that nearly 590,000 American workers participated in for over a decade. The findings showed mental distress increased for everyone between the pre- and post-pandemic periods…but it rose significantly more among people in remote jobs. Those workers spent about 1.1 additional waking hours alone per day compared with nonremote workers, also, the increase in mental distress doubled among workers living alone.
