Myrtle Beach Proposes New Capacity Limit At Ocean Blvd Bars & Nightclubs
The new rule would create an overlay zone “limiting land use of nightclubs, bars and other drinking places with occupancy exceeding 150 persons.”
Myrtle Beach leaders are considering a change that would impact bars and nightclubs along Ocean Boulevard.
If approved, the new rule would create an overlay zone “limiting land use of nightclubs, bars and other drinking places with occupancy exceeding 150 persons” while allowing existing licensed properties to continue as non-conforming uses.
The planning commission will be the first to address the issue, which will be discussed Tuesday at its regular meeting. The planning board is expected to review the amendment, host public hearings and make recommendations. However, the city council would have to vote on any zone changes.
