FDA Commissioner Marty Makary Resigns From Position

FDA deputy Commissioner for Food, Kyle Diamantis, will serve as acting commissioner.

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary is reigning from his position.

Makary’s resignation has to do with “process at the FDA” and not a specific issue, and an official said that there is “no bad blood” between President Trump and the outgoing commissioner.

The president called Makary a “great guy” and also thanked him for having done a great job at the FDA, adding, so much was accomplished under his leadership.

Makary’s resignation comes after mounting pressure from many frustrated with his handling of several high-profile decisions. FDA deputy Commissioner for Food, Kyle Diamantis, will serve as acting commissioner.
