Woman Dies After Crash Involving Disabled RV & Hartsville Police Officer

The victim was standing at the back of the RV at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A crash in Darlington County claimed the life of one person.

The accident occurred shortly before 2pm Sunday along E. Bobo Newsome Highway near Narrow Bridge Road.

While traveling west, a Ford Explorer rear ended an RV that was disabled on the roadway.

The occupant of the RV was identified as Barbra Purdy. She was standing at the back of the RV at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the explorer was identified as a Hartsville police officer who was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. An investigation is active.
