Hurricane Preparedness Week Is Underway Across North Carolina

Each day focuses on a different things you should be prepared for.

Hurricane Preparedness Week is underway across North Carolina.

The goal is to remind residents to get ready before tropical weather threats. The campaign will run through Saturday and is being promoted by the National Weather Service and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Officials said now is the time to review hurricane safety plans, understand local risks, and make sure families are prepared before the Atlantic Hurricane season begins.

Each day focuses on a different things you should be prepared for. Monday focuses on preparing before hurricane season, knowing your zone and understanding storm surge.

Tuesday focuses on forecast information and high winds. Wednesday focuses on taking action when a storm threatens and preparing for inland flooding.

Thursday focuses on staying protected during storms and tornado safety. Friday focuses on using caution after storms and rip current safety. And Saturday focuses on taking action today.
