New York Knicks Make NBA Playoff History
The half time lead marked the largest halftime lead ever held in an NBA playoff game.
The New York Knicks made NBA playoff history Thursday night.
With a 3-2 series lead, the team entered Game 6 against the Hawks in Atlanta. The Knicks made history with an 83-35 lead in the first half. That marked the largest halftime lead ever held in an NBA playoff game.
Up 47 points at the half, and leading 117-64 after three quarters, the Knicks had a shot at securing the biggest blowout win in NBA playoff history, but came up just short with the entire second half effectively rendered garbage time.
At one point they led by 61 points, a record in a playoff game in the play-by-play era. The Knicks won 140-89, a franchise record for a playoff game. Their 51-point margin of victory still made the top 10 spot on the list of biggest playoff blowouts. They will advance to the second round, where they will play the winner of the Celtics-Sixers series.
