Trump-Kennedy Center To Close For Renovations
Construction will begin on what the president described as a "new and spectacular entertainment complex."
President Trump announced that the Trump-Kennedy Center will close later this year to undergo renovations.
The president took to Truth Social to announce the closure will begin on July 4, coinciding with the Nation’s 250th Anniversary.
Construction will begin on what the president described as a “new and spectacular entertainment complex.” The decision to renovate came after a year-long review involving contractors, arts experts and other advisers.
The temporary closure is expected to last around two-years and would allow the renovations to be completed faster and at a higher quality than if construction were carried out while performances continued.
The funds for the renovations are already in place, but an estimated cost was not announced. The center hosts hundreds of performances each year and is home to several resident companies. It was not immediately clear whether those events would be postponed or moved to other venues.
