Death Toll Rises After Powerful Earthquake Struck Morocco
Search and rescue missions are underway as crews work to find as many survivors as possible.
The death toll in Morocco continues to rise after it was struck by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake.
The powerful quake shook the region on Friday night before being hit by an aftershock with a 4.9 magnitude. As of Monday, the death toll increased to 2,862 while another 2,562 people are injured.
The worst of the destruction is in the High Atlas Mountains, which is a difficult area to access as rockslides have blocked off roads making it near impossible to reach those who could be trapped beneath the debris of their homes.
Search and rescue missions are underway as crews work to find as many survivors as possible.
The United Nations has estimated that around 300,000 people have been affected by the quake.
