I bet if you open your freezer right now, you’d find stacks of frozen fruits veggies, pizza and your lean cuisines. The last thing you might expect to see a box of cereal. But, if you want fresher cereal, that’s where you may want to keep your Rice Krispies and your Corn Flakes, Lucky Charms…etc. Folks on social media are making the switch from the cabinet to the freezer after a TikTok video went viral showing what is now known as the frozen cereal hack. Rather than keep her open cereal bags in their original boxes and on a shelf, she tightly rolls them up and stores them in her pull-out freezer. Not only does this hack prevent cereal from going stale, it also makes for a better overall cereal experience, as it keeps milk cold and the cereal crunchy. According to the USDA, she’s not wrong. Freezing preserves food prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause that causes it to go bad.
