Audra sits down with Eric Schultz, the Assistant Professor of Music at Coastal Carolina University, a quarter-finalist for the 2024 Music Educator Grammy award! This is a big honor and a first for CCU, as no faculty has ever been nominated for this or any other Grammy.
When Eric started his career at CCU, he started the REPRESENTatoire Project and decided to give that work everything he has. It became the focus of his teaching from all possible angles. This is a collaborative project with his students and every year they choose a new living composer to focus on.
This past year, Valerie Coleman was a guest artist to teach masterclasses, discuss her career, and perform her music. Eric and his students acquired her music library and now have the largest collection of her music in the world! She has been commissioned by many major American orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera.
