Aynor High Teacher Named SC Teacher of the Year

Aynor High School's English teacher Reneé Atkinson was honored at the Governor’s mansion.

An Aynor educator has been named the South Carolina Teacher of the Year! Aynor High School’s English teacher Reneé Atkinson was honored at the Governor’s mansion in Columbia with State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver and Governor McMaster there for the ceremony. Reneé will represent the Palmetto State for 2024 as an ambassador for education. She will also compete for the title of National Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching for 21 years with 17 of those within the Horry County Schools district. Reneé was awarded $25,000 and a brand-new BMW to use while serving for one year as an ambassador.
