Nicole Young-Cline of Young Talkers was in the studio ahead of World Down Syndrom Day.
World Down Syndrome Day officially began in 2011 and now, every year, is celebrated on March 21st. The significance of the date is because people who have down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome.
On March 21st, Rock Your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day! Wear your wackiest and most colorful socks to promote the day. Why? Because chromosomes look similar to the shape of a sock. The employees of Young Talkers haved rocked socks from John’s Crazy Socks in the past. John’s Crazy Socks is a father-son business inspired by co-founder John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome.
Young Talkers is continuing their efforts to help people understand and become more aware of the needs in our community regarding down syndrome. They are also helping promote inclusion. People with disabilities have the right to be treated fairly and have the same opportunities as everyone else.
