Each time you hit snooze, your brain has to work harder to wake up.
More than half of us hit the snooze at least once in the morning. But you may want to think twice before doing it tomorrow morning. A study shows it’s likely wrecking the first part of our mornings. Each time you hit that snooze, you’re likely adding 30 more minutes of grogginess your brain has to fight after you do get up! Each time you hit snooze, your brain has to work harder to wake up. It has to do with sleep inertia. It’s the brain fog we all get as we transition from sleep to being fully awake. Folks sleep deprived have it the worst. and continuing to hit snooze may just extend its effects as you fall back to sleep only to be woken again and again. Although sleep inertia usually goes away within 30 minutes, but it can last for hours.
