Texas Judge Strikes Down Student Loan Forgiveness Program

The program is currently on hold in a separate legal challenge.

A federal court struck down President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program. The Biden Administration argued that under a law known as the “Heroes Act”, congress gave the Secretary of Education power to waive student loan debt. But, the judge said the law lacked clear congressional authorization. The job creators network foundation, which brought the suit, hailed the decision, saying the plan didn’t address fundamental unaffordable tuition issues. The plan aims to cancel 10-thousand-dollars in student loans for borrowers making less than 125 thousand-dollars or households that earn less than 250 thousand. It would also cancel up to 20 thousand dollars for those with pell grants. The program is currently on hold in a separate legal challenge.
