AKC Recognizes New Dog Breed

The designation means the canine's can compete for best in show at many U.S. dog shows.

The American Kennel Club has announced its newest canine breed. The Bracco Italiano has received full recognition as the club’s newest breed. The ancient Italian bird dog is the 200th member of the American Kennel Club’s roster of recognized breeds. The designation means the canine’s can compete for best in show at many U.S. dog shows, including the Westminster Kennel Club event next year. The AKC says the Bracco dates back 2,000 years and is a supposed to be adaptable to all types of hunting.
