First Lady Jill Biden Takes a Surprise Trip to Ukraine
Over the weekend, First Lady Jill Biden made an unannounced trip to Uzhhorod, Ukraine, where she met with Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenskyy who has not been seen in public since the beginning of the war. The meeting included a closed door bilateral which lasted about an hour at a building that was a school before the war which has been transformed into a refuge where dozens of displaced people now live. The meeting is part of her four day trip to Europe. The First Lady also spent time with refugee families in Romania and Slovakia. She is the first member of the Biden family to visit the country in recent weeks. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin visited Kyiv last month and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visited last week.
