Defamation Lawsuit Against Alec Baldwin Dismissed by Federal Judge

Yesterday, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin. The suit was brought against Baldwin by the family of a former marine killed in Afghanistan claiming defamation and negligence. The sisters and widow of fallen Marine Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum sued Baldwin in January after he made comments on Instagram about one family member’s presence outside the U.S. Capitol during the riots. According to the judge, the McCollums failed to prove that the court had personal jurisdiction over the actor’s actions. Their attorney says the family plans to re-file the lawsuit in the jurisdiction where Baldwin can be held accountable for his “horrible conduct.”
