Novak Djokovic Issues Statement on Social Media
More details surrounding tennis star Novak Djokovic’s visa have surfaced. While the tennis player is gearing up for the Australian Open, yesterday Djokovic admitted that he did not immediately isolate after testing positive for the Coronavirus last month and denied knowing he had the virus when attending public events. In a statement on social media, the tennis player also apologized for an apparently false travel declaration saying it was submitted on his behalf by a member of his support staff in ‘human error.’ Djokovic also said he had made an ‘error of judgment’ in doing a media interview and photo shoot with a French newspaper after testing positive. The journalist and photographer for the paper were not told Djokovic was positive before, during or after the interview. The Australian Border Force are currently investigating inconsistencies with documents Djokovic submitted.
