South Carolina Experiences Spike in COVID-19 Cases

The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 22 new cases of COVID-19 in South Carolina yesterday. The day before, 46 new cases were confirmed. This brings the new total number of cases statewide to 195, which is a massive jump from last week’s original 12 confirmed cases. They have been reported across 33 counties, two of which were confirmed in Horry County. However, there are currently no confirmed cases in Marlboro County, which DHEC initially announced Saturday. Marlboro County officials confirmed yesterday DHEC “mistakenly identified” a positive test there.
