Man Awarded Over $11 Million After Drug Raid Leaves Him Paralyzed
A man paralyzed after a drug raid has just been awarded over 11 million dollars in several settlements. Julian Betton sued the city of Myrtle Beach after he was shot nine times by officers in his own home back in April of 2015. It’s reported officers fired a total of 57 shots during the incident, all directed at Betton. His lawsuit argued the police never identified themselves before bursting through his door. Betton also said he was armed, however he never pulled his weapon. Security camera footage would later confirm this story. The warrant police presented to the judge was also misleading as it said Betton intended to distribute marijuana along with other drugs despite having any evidence of such a claim.
