23-Year-Old North Myrtle Beach Cold Case Solved

A 23-year-old North Myrtle Beach cold case has finally been solved thanks to new DNA technology. 23-year-old Shawn Neal was found dead in June of 1996 and after years of no new evidence or leads, the case went cold. But police never gave up. In 2017, they submitted DNA found at the scene to a forensics lab. It came back with a match. Ronald Moore was previously wanted for a number of other unsolved rapes, burglaries, and an additional murder. Moore died while in prison in 2008 so he cannot be charged but police are confident he is responsible. Moore did not live in myrtle beach, he was most likely a visitor.
