New “Move Over” Law Could Keep Slow Drivers Out of the Left Lane
Look out slow drivers, a new South Carolina bill passed yesterday by the senate could be targeting you. A new proposal by the Senate Transportation Committee would allow officers to pull you over if you’re driving too slowly in the left lane of major roads or highways. The senate bill would also allow officers to fine you $100 for not moving over to the right lane, but will not deduct points from your license. However, the house bill, backed by leader Gary Simrill, will be harsher with higher fines and a deduction of two points from your license.
