Jussie Smollett Indicted for Faking Hate Crime Against Himself
Jussie Smollett has been indicted on six counts for allegedly faking a hate crime against himself. In January of 2019, the “Empire” actor claimed he was randomly attacked by two masked men while walking home from the subway. He claimed the men were Trump supporters who beat him and tied a noose around his neck all while yelling racial and homophobic slurs at him. It wasn’t long before investigators revealed the 37-year-old had hired these two men to attack him for publicity for himself. However, investigators ended up dropping the sixteen charges sometime in March due to lack of evidence. But it wasn’t long before they again charged him with faking a police report. Now, over a year later, Smollett has finally been indicted for disorderly conduct and allegedly lying to police. Smollett faces up to three years in prison. He still maintains his innocence.
