Cory Booker Drops Out of 2020 Presidential Race

Democratic Senator Cory Booker announced the end of his presidential campaign race yesterday. Booker made the decision over the weekend after he failed to qualify for the democratic debate in Iowa tonight and unsuccessfully gained traction among Americans. He also struggled to raise money for his campaign. The announcement was made in an email to his supporters. He said, “it was a difficult decision to make, but I got in this race to win, and I’ve always said I wouldn’t continue if there was no longer a path to victory.” This marks yet another departure of a major black candidate from the 2020 race. It is not clear if the New Jersey democrat plans to endorse anyone else in the primary but his official succession email stated he would support the future nominee. Booker ran on a platform that mainly aimed to aide those in lower-income areas and enforcement of stricter gun laws.
