Deadly Weather in the South Kills At Least 11 People
Police were urging residents to seek shelter and avoid hazardous roads this weekend after a series of storms in the south have left at least eleven people dead. The deaths were reported in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. An elderly couple died after a tornado lifted their mobile home and carried it about 200 feet. Two men were killed after trees fell on their homes. One person died after their car flipped into a creek. And three people were killed in Alabama “as a result of the apparent tornado” though there isn’t much more known about their deaths so far. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost power due to fallen trees and power lines. Entire homes have been destroyed. The storms have brought hazardous road conditions from flooding to ice. Hundreds of flights were even canceled over the weekend.
