Iran Attacks Iraq Base Housing U.S. Soldiers
Iran followed through with their vows of revenge last night when they bombed two bases in Iraq that were housing U.S. soldiers. In the early morning hours, 22 ballistic missiles were fired onto the bases. It appears no Americans were harmed but the incident remains largely under investigation. Iran has taken full responsibility for the attack and says they do not seek to continue escalation. Many consider the attacks by Iran to be diplomatic and strategic. If they wanted to kill a lot of U.S. soldiers there were plenty of other bases to choose from. President Trump just gave a public statement on the attack. In it, he stood behind his decision to kill General Soleimani. He believes Iran will stand down after this and expressed his desire for peace but said we would not tolerate continued terrorist attacks. He did not elaborate on any future plans involving retaliation from our side.
